“You won’t get a job in the current economy.” “Advertising is the first thing businesses drop in a tough economy.” “You definitely can not get a job in Michigan, you’ll have to move.” I have heard variations of all of these phrases more times than I can count.
Hi! My name is Michele Hillman and I’m a Senior at Michigan State University. I am currently embarking on the terrifying, exhilarating, hopeful/hopeless, process of job hunting. Before I get to talking about this experience, here is a little about me.
Name: Michele Hillman

That's me!
Age: 20
University: Michigan State University….Go Spartans!
Major: Advertising
Background: I’m a Midwest girl, born and bred. I love the Midwest and can’t imagine living anywhere that doesn’t experience all four seasons. I was born in Cleveland, OH but spent most of my life in Brighton, MI.

Hobbies: Running, because it gives me a chance to clear my mind for the day. Reading (but I never got into Harry Potter or Twilight…gasp!) Writing, everything from my journal to lyrics to funny poems for friends. Playing outside! Photography, but “amateur” is a nice way of describing my skills. Baking, especially the decorating part.

My Halloween Graveyard Cake
Future Plans: Uknown…but only to an extent. As a girl who has had plans for everything in life until this point, the unkown in a little frightening. So far the plan is to graduate in May from MSU. Since I’m graduating in three years, I want to get an internship for summer to gain more experience in advertising. From August 31-September 20 I will be backbacking through Europe with my best friend, Abby. When I get back from Europe I will really need to find a job.
The Blog: We’ll see what direction the blog ends up taking, but the idea is to chronicle my Senior year at MSU and the job hunt along the way. I will pass along any helpful advice that I get from others, and hope that comments posted will be helpful as well.
Hope you enjoy!
